With the emergence and huge popularity of mobile devices such as the iPod and iPhone there has been thousands of new landscaping applications to go with these devices. There are some really neat landscaping applications that have come out recently. Some of these are garden planners that help you choose what and where to place your plants like annuals, perennials and trees and shrubs. The planners even work using your local growing zone- Calgary’s is zone 3- this helps you plant only specimens that will actually grow here. There are also landscaping applications like material calculators that help you figure out how much landscaping material like – soil or mulch – you will need to cover a certain area. This is great for when you are filling a flower bed or calculating how much mulch you will need to go on top of beds. Some of the more elaborate and expensive landscaping applications are landscape design applications. You may want to research these thoroughly before spending the money on them. They may be a little difficult to operate on a mobile device, but we did find some that were very useful and fund to play around with.
